SuperKind, Delancey Real Estate and Get Living Partner to Offer Free Social Impact Program to 20 Southwark Schools in London
SuperKind, the leading social action platform for schools, is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Delancey Real Estate and Get Living, the leading developer and operator of large scale residential neighbourhoods. This collaboration will provide 20 schools in Southwark with free access to the SuperKind platform and participation in the Social Impact Schools Award.
The Social Impact Schools Award offers a comprehensive framework and resources designed to teach active citizenship, character development, and social action in an engaging and meaningful manner. Typically requiring an entry fee, Delancey and Get Living’s financial support ensures that budgetary constraints do not hinder schools from fostering a culture of social responsibility among students. At a time when 1 in 5 children are experiencing mental health difficulties, and 70% are worried about the world they are inheriting, initiatives like SuperKind are more essential than ever.
Social action has been shown to reduce anxiety in young people by over 20%, while also cultivating crucial character qualities such as resilience, empathy, and cooperation. It also leads to higher academic engagement and employability skills –critical in a context where UK schools face record levels of absenteeism and a significant skills gap.
90% of students who have used the SuperKind platform say that they feel empowered to change issues that they care about, compared to a national average of just 52%. This sense of agency is vital – studies show that when children take part in meaningful social action before the age of 10, they are twice as likely to be charitable as adults, helping to reverse national declines in giving and civic engagement.
Keren Mitchell, Co-Founder and CEO of SuperKind said: “Empowering young people to have agency over the issues that they care about is such an essential part of young people’s education, with profound benefits for mental health, employability and community cohesion among many other things. SuperKind works with schools across the country and we are absolutely delighted that with the generous support of Delancey Real Estate and Get Living, we will be able to bring the transformative effect of social action to 20 schools in Southwark.”
Jamie Ritblat, Founder and Executive Chairman of Delancey said: “We are delighted to support SuperKind and help increase their reach and availability in Southwark, an area of key focus for us through the redevelopment project at Elephant and Castle. Supporting young people is of the utmost importance to us and to be able to ensure 20 schools in Southwark now have access to the unique initiative that is Superkind, is really exciting. Every young person should feel empowered to speak about social issues and what’s important to them, we know this program will give them the confidence and tools to do this.”
Rick de Blaby, CEO, Get Living, said: “The work that SuperKind does is absolutely vital and provides incredible benefits to local children and the wider area. As long-term stakeholders in Elephant and Castle with the delivery of our town centre project we are committed to working with and for the local community. SuperKind’s work is proven to reduce apathy and encourage civic participation amongst children, which is crucial amongst the next generation in our towns and cities.” Surrey Square Primary School, recently honoured as Primary School of the Year at the National Teaching Awards, has already experienced the benefits of the SuperKind platform. Through their engagement, students have led impactful social action projects, making significant contributions to their local community. SuperKind is used by over 1,000 schools in the UK, with more 75,000 students registered on the platform and more than 200,000 social actions logged on the site to date. Schools interested in securing one of the 20 funded places are encouraged to register promptly, as spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
