Our community

As part of our approach to being a responsible business, we support charities and other deserving causes across the arts, young people, education and mental health on a London and UK-wide basis. Community engagement has always been at the heart of Delancey’s day-to-day work, and since 2007 we have contributed around £4.5m to a wide range of community initiatives.

Committed to making a positive contribution

We recognise that we have a responsibility to ensure that we make a positive contribution and that all of our stakeholders benefit – be it tenants, consumers, partners, investors and particularly the wider community in which the buildings and businesses operate. Delancey and its platform businesses are continuously seeking out ways to make much needed financial and in-kind contributions, and the support ranges from direct donations and participation in fundraising events, to the provision of rent-free units, staff volunteering and complimentary consultancy services.

Delancey has an absolute, over-arching commitment to:

Relevant and responsible investment into the built environment

Working with occupiers, residents and businesses, to form, support and sustain a strong and vibrant community

Being innovative in tailoring what we do to the changing needs within the community as the neighbourhoods and buildings evolve over time

Detailed information on our community engagement work can be found in the Community Impact brochure and below are examples some of our most recent work in this area.

SuperKind

In May 2025, Delancey announced it’s partnership with Superkind, the leading social action platform, to provide a free Social Impact Program to 20 schools in Southwark.

Superkind’s Social Impact Schools Award offers a comprehensive framework and resources designed to teach active citizenship, character development, and social action in an engaging and meaningful manner. Through Delancey funding, 20 schools in Southwark can now register online for the program without the worry of budget constraints.

Surrey Square Primary School, recently honored as Primary School of the Year at the National Teaching Awards and also one of the schools that Delancey has supported in the past with other CSR funding, has already experienced the benefits of the SuperKind platform. Through their engagement, students have led impactful social action projects, making significant contributions to their local community.

June 12th is the official kick-off of the program which will see all 20 registered schools meet at Surrey Square Primary School to learn more about the program and hear from Surrey Square Primary School’s experience. We are excited to watch the journey and see more children benefit from the tools and confidence this programme will give them.

At a time when1 in 5 children are experiencing mental health difficulties, and70% are worried about the world they’re inheriting, initiatives like SuperKind are more essential than ever. Social action has been shown to reduce anxiety in young people by over 20%,while also cultivating crucial character qualities such as resilience, empathy, and cooperation. It also leads to higher academic engagement and employability skills—critical in a context where UK schools face record levels of absenteeism and a significant skills gap

Superkind:

  • 90% of students that have used SuperKind say they feel empowered to change issues they care about, this is compared to a national average of just 52%
  • Used by over 1,000 schools in the UK
  • Over 75,000 students are registered on the platform
  • More than 200,000 social actions have been logged to date

Jamie Ritblat, Founder and Executive Chairman of Delancey said: “We are delighted to support SuperKind and help increase their reach and availability in Southwark, an area of key focus for us through our redevelopment project at Elephant and Castle. Supporting young people is of the utmost importance to us and to be able to ensure 20 schools in Southwark now has access to the unique initiative that is Superkind, is really exciting. Every young person should feel empowered to speak about social issues and what’s important to them, we know this program will give them the confidence and tools to do this.”

“Empowering young people to have agency over the issues that they care about is such an essential part of young people’s education, with profound benefits for mental health, employability and community cohesion among many other things. SuperKind works with schools across the country and we are absolutely delighted that with the generous support of Delancey Real Estate, we will be able to bring the transformative effect of social action to 20 schools in Southwark.”

Zen Bus Project

In May Delancey is delighted to be funding the Zen Project Mental Health Week bus tour (12th to 15th of May), taking free meditation, mindfulness, soundbath and wellness sessions to communities, shopping centres, schools and neighbourhoods across the UK that Delancey is actively involved in, including: Earls Court, Elephant & Castle Town Centre, Here East, Jean Stokes Community Centre in Islington, and Royal Priors Shopping Centre, Leamington Spa. As well as a number of dedicated sessions for local schools and NHS key workers.

The Zen Project is a social enterprise, on a mission to offer a mobile sanctuary, bringing the benefits of Zen Sessions (a range of simple activities to improve mental health) to all from its fleet of converted American school buses. They believe in creating calm amongst the chaos and showing people how simple it can be to find some zen.

Recent studies from the ONS and The Mental Health Foundation found:

  • 76% of people say they have personal experience with mental health struggles
  • Mental ill health is now the most common cause of work -limiting conditions among those aged 44 or younger.
  • 74% of people have felt so stressed they have been overwhelmed or unable to cope.
  • In 2022/23 over 17.1 million working days were lost from workers suffering from mental health.
  • 65% of British workers feel anxious about returning to the office.

To date The Zen Bus has provided over 1,000 cups of Yogi tea and helped clock-up over 1,000 hours of meditation highlighting the important need for mental health support in and amongst communities and showing people how they can live a more peaceful, happier, and healthier life.

Supporting mental health is part of Delancey’s commitment to the long-term success of the neighbourhoods in which we operate. This new key partnership, is a reminder that property isn’t just about buildings — it’s also about helping build healthier, more connected societies.

“These numbers tell us something important,” “People are not just stressed—they’re overwhelmed. And many don’t know where to turn. That’s why we bring support straight to the street, to workplaces, to schools. The Zen Project is about showing people that wellbeing tools can be simple, practical, and part of everyday life.”

Supporting Wounded Veterans

Delancey’s support for SWV began in 2017 by sponsoring their Christmas carol concert.

Established in 2012, Supporting Wounded Veterans offers support to members of HM Forces who have been medically discharged or who have subsequently developed medical issues since leaving. Physically or mentally wounded, they are often suffering with PTSD and in some cases have lost limbs in war. SWV aids them in transitioning from rehabilitation to employment. SWV has a 90% success rate at finding meaningful occupation, training or employment for its veterans.

In 2025, Delancey signed on to be part of the SWV Winter Challenge which runs concurrently with the SWV Veteran Ski-Habilitation Week. Each year, a group of 25 veterans are brought to the Klosters, Switzerland and are taught to ski regardless of injury. Onsite professionals, including adaptive ski instructors and a full medical team, are there to support the mental and physical challenges veterans face on the slopes, and off.

  • In 2025, Jon Quinlan, Christina Rehnberg, and Marcus Webb joined the veterans and partook in challenges to raise further funds, to support the charity and its important work in helping veterans live a full and healthy life.
  • Through their joint fundraising efforts,  team raised over £10,000 for Supporting Wounded Veterans.

“From our Carol Concert to our Veteran Ski-Habilitation Week, your team have thrown themselves into supporting us. SWV really can’t thank you enough. Your enthusiasm is infectious!”

Stop.Breathe.Think

With mental health services under strain from rising cases of anxiety and depression in young people, Stop.Breathe.Think. provides free counselling programs for young people in need.

Data collected throughout the year indicated that young people sought counselling primarily for :

  • anxiety (30%)

  • along with other issues such as eating problems and self-harm.

The scheme has to date provided 46 vulnerable young people in the area through 1:1 completely free counselling sessions and mental health support.

Delancey has a long-standing relationship with the charity behind this critically needed youth mental health initiative through our support for Snow Camp over the last decade.

“We are so thankful to Delancey for helping us launch the Stop.Breathe.Think programme across Elephant and Castle – ensuring young people struggling with any aspect of mental health can get the support they need, without the wait. Heritage of London Trust

Heritage of London has rescued over 750 landmark sites over the years, and its projects bring together local communities and young people through its Proud Places programme. Delancey became a major donor of the Heritage of London Trust in February 2017, supporting its restoration projects  across the City.

  • In 2022, the 8-foot flying gilt dragon weathervane was returned to the top of St James’s Church, Bermondsey, preserving an iconic element of the Bermondsey vista. The church’s clock faces were restored and its drinking fountain put back into working order. Local primary school pupils took part in creative workshops while their dragon was up close before it returned to the tower
  • In east London in 2017, Bow Church’s clock faces were restored
  • In March 2022, HOLT returned a historic bell to Galleywall School in Bermondsey. To mark the return of the bell, its Proud Places programme team led school assemblies and smaller workshops, sharing the history of the local area and traditions of bells.
  • In 2023, Delancey sponsored HOLT’s annual Proud Places conference which offers the opportunity to share learnings with the youth sector as well as the arts and heritage sector.
  • In 2024, Delancey funded the restoration of a Victorian drinking fountain on the grounds of Christ Church, Southwark. March 13th, 2025 marked the official launch of the fountain where children from Snowfieled Primary School delivered speeches and delighted in taking the first drink from the restored fountain. Row for Amy

In 2023, Andrew Osborne set off on his 3000 mile solo row across the Atlantic to raise money for his daughter Amy’s memorial fund, set up by his family at the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). Amy died unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 25 from an undiagnosed heart condition. Delancey were incredibly proud to sponsor the boat for Andrew’s inspiring voyage.
  • Andrew completed his journey in under 80 days
  • 12 young people a week die in the UK from cardiac arrest and 80% do not experience any symptoms
  • Andrew has now raised over £175,000 for CRY
  • To date, CRY has raised enough money to pay for over 500 children and young adults to be screened for undiagnosed heart conditions

It has been wonderful to work with Delancey to fulfil my solo and unsupported row across 3000 miles of the Atlantic Ocean. In doing so we have together raised over £175,000 and this will fund the testing of thousands of young people for undiagnosed heart conditions. We will now work towards reducing the tragic average number of 12 heathy and fit children per week in the UK who lose their lives to these conditions. Many thanks to all the staff and supporters at Delancey, I could not have done it without them.”
